Abstract Biomethanation is a prospective biogas upgrading method to integrate renewable energy grid with existing grid. Biomethane can directly substitute fossil natural gas and be used in all sectors. The selection of packing material for the ex-situ biomethanation biotrickling filter reactors based on physical chemical characterization carrier material. selected supports hydrogenotrophic methanogenic growth thereby increases area H 2 mass transfer. Chemical components melting temperature analysis wood ash are carried out determine optimal parameters producing Physical characteristics new such as volume-specific surface (m m −3 ), external porosity (vol. %) bulk density (kg m−3) compare this other materials that have been before.
